March, 2014 - Bruce Arians Inaugural Arizona Celebrity Golf Classic423 viewsHello,
My name is Jake Hernandez, and I am currently a student at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. As a Business Sports and Media Studies Major, I am in a student organization called Sports Business Association. SBA has been great at finding members internship and volunteer opportunities in the sports industry.
One of the opportunities that we had a chance to volunteer at was the Bruce Arians Celebrity Golf Class located at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. The event was set up for the Arians Family Foundation that supports CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) in making sure that children who are involved in the court system, as a result of abuse or neglect by their families, receive the love and help they need.
Many celebrities and athletes came to participate and support the foundation by playing in the golf classic. Athletes include: Larry Fitzgerald, Carson Palmer, Patrick Peterson, Andrew Luck, Jerome Bettis, and your very own Ben Roethlisberger!
Big Ben was one of the athletes that I really had a pleasure to meet! He was one of the first guests to show up to the golf event and can really hit the golf ball! I heard he hit a 370 yard drive! While working at one of the holes, Ben came up to all of us and introduced himself. He was super friendly and took pictures with everyone. It was an awesome opportunity I could not pass on.
After the golf classic, we had a dinner and live auction with all the guests and athletes. Ben of course was one of the first to show again! He was a standup guy, making everyone laugh and was as friendly as he was on the golf course!
It was awesome representing my school, ASU, in the picture I got with him. I was able to support my organization SBA by showing we are truly a great organization by finding such great opportunities such as this.
I am the one on the right, putting up the fork (hand gesture) to support ASU. On the left, my friend Nick whom is part of the SBA board that helped get us involved and eventually get the chance to meet Ben Roethlisberger!

"I was quite shocked when he came in as I have one of his jerseys at home, but I couldn't go home to get it signed because I was working. Thank you so much! We have the picture framed in the bar and it is a real hit with all Americans who visit us. Just a pity we couldnt get it signed, that would have been magical!" -- James Hurley
And from the management at Charlie Foley's Pub via Twitter on Ben's visit:
"What a gentle giant! [Came in] to the pub and couldn't be nicer. We have his picture on our wall, he is our adopted hero! We wish him the luck of the Irish!"

Meeting Ben was amazing and to get a picture with him AND have him sign my jersey was absolutely amazing! A day doesn't go by that I don't think about it. I know it may seem crazy but that memory is the most amazing one ever! Here is me and Ben at training camp a couple years ago. See you at training camp Ben!"
Thank you James!

June 7, 2022 - Will the real #7 please stand up…801 views“Just an amazing and well worth it day. To meet and walk down the fairway with Big Ben, who was just an amazing guy. Dream come true for these 3 Members of #SteelersNation.
This picture of the 3 of us in Ben’s jersey is a special one. It has my uncle, who is like my dad. His name is Doug Van Dusen. My father passed away of a heart attack when I was 13, and Doug stepped right in as a mentor and father figure. Sadly he has been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer that has spread to his liver. Long story short, we have been long time die Hard Steeler fans, and especially Big Ben. Doug even named his (now rainbow bridge dog) Ben after him. This was a dream come true to be able to meet Ben and the day was magical.
The other doppelgänger of Ben, is my buddy Brian who is also my neighbour and long time Steeler (Ben) fan.Â
Being in Canada, I never thought we would have the chance to meet him and see him that close. The event was simply awesome and so entertaining. If you do speak to him, tell him I want his hat.
Once we found out Ben was coming, Doug and I hopped on tickets, then I told Brian about it and he was in. From that moment we had decided to wear his garb and be fitted with our Ben jerseys and terrible towels. Ben was so gracious in taking a photo with us and signing our stuff.
Lastly, I just want to thank him again for being so gracious and hope we put the Steelers Ottawa Chapter on the map in honouring him and his HOF career beside him. Thank you so much again and God Bless you all! Go Steelers and enjoy retirement Big Ben!!!†— Jamie Van Dusen.

January 6, 2017 - Thank you Ben!526 views“One year ago Big Ben and A.B. made my sons the happiest Steeler fans in the world.
Then, over this past summer I took my boys to Big Ben’s Football Camp. Caden got to do a ‘Meet & Greet’ with Ben and he loved it! I was also fortunate to have a field pass, and while on the field Ben came over to the tent I was in. I thanked him for giving my son the game ball and he said, ‘You’re the browns fan!’ And I said yes. He also signed the football. My kids loved the camp and Chace caught a touchdown pass from Ben during a 7 on 7 drill. We’ll be going back to camp again this year.
I also took the boys to Antonio Brown’s softball game. They had fun, and after the game we waited and waited for AB to come out of the locker room to see if he would sign our football. When he came out, he was in a hurry because he had to go to another event, but he did stop to sign the ball.
Just wanted to say thank you again and wish Big Ben, A.B., The Steelers Organization, and fans good luck in the playoffs. I hope you guys get number 7.†— CLEVELAND BROWNS fan Jared Clonch.
