April 30, 2008 - Ben's Foundation Gives K-9 Grants to Pittsburgh2837 viewsIn the last 10 years, the Monessen police department has had two other dogs, including one provided through donations from Monessen native and former heavyweight boxing champion Michael Moorer. The department had been without a K-9 dog for about five years before Dax joined the force.
"They are the most underappreciated officer there is," said Roethlisberger, who owns a rottweiler and a Burmese mountain dog. "An officer feels pretty safe when they have a canine on their side."

January 12, 20112668 viewsOn December 30th, Ben announced the ninth and final grant of the 2010 season outside of the Pittsburgh area. The grant was awarded to the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department (CMHAPD), located in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department will use the grant to purchase much needed detection training supplies and protection equipment for their K-9 unit. The funds will help fill a void in the department left by the loss of Kubo, CMHA’s three-year old police dog, who died on September 27, 2010 during a training exercise.
Shown in the photo: Officer John Smiddy with Chewbacca and Officer Jeffery Holdeman with Loki. They are posing with CMHA's Marketing Manager, Courtney Kilbury.

This was sent by a New England Patriots fan. Her husband is a Boston City Police Officer and a friend of Officer Calsey (from the article). Officer Calsey's K-9, Tacoma, was a recipient of a bullet-proof vest purchased from funds given to the department by Ben's Foundation.
