Steeler Nation is everywhere!632 viewsBirthday girl and big Steelers fan Mary Rafail from Utah, goes to Memphis for her birthday week and lo and behold, finds a Steelers friend to pose with!
She is in front of the Pittsburgh Steelers Memphis Fan Club.
"Memphis was so cool...They are all locals and they have around 500 members. All proceeds from their raffles go to the local St. Judes to help Memphis familes. They are huge fans and love Big Ben! I had a great birthday with them and they treated us like family. They are a proud fan club!!! There are also 2 huge Steeler bars in Memphis!! Steelers and Elvis for my birthday...I thought I was in Heaven!!!" -- Mary

Black & Ghoul Halloween - 2014798 viewsHere's my grandson Mason as Ben this Halloween. This is also Mason's first Halloween without his daddy, Treaver. Treaver was my son who unfortunately was killed in a terrible car crash July 23, 2014 at the young age of 20 by his friend who was driving drunk and while trying to pass a truck on the right side of the road recklessly lost control and ended up in oncoming traffic. My son was killed on impact. Treaver and I had a great relationship with the Steelers and watched all the games together, we even made it to a few in Pittsburgh. I try to make it to at least 1 game a year, however it's bittersweet this year and I won't be able to make the trip this season. I will make it there next season where his ashes will be spread there at Heinz Field. Heinz Field is a very special place for me to remember the best times we were able to share with each other.
Treaver played football from the age of 4 all the way up to high school, and he dreamed of playing for the Steelers organization after playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Treaver got in a little trouble and had to go to boarding school in Glen Mills Pennsylvania to get back on track and decided he wanted to counsel young kids who were also going down the wrong path. He never made it past his first year of college when the accident happened. I miss my son more than anyone can ever imagine and I want to spread the word about drinking and driving so no more parents have to bury their children.
I am very gracious to have Mason to continue the Steelers tradition with, and will be taking him to plenty of games as he grows older. before my son's passing he picked out Mason's jersey and said he couldn't be anything but Ben this year because it would bring Ben luck, it did bring him luck...Andrew Luck where he had the game of his career last week. We have Baltimore this week (my husbands team) and Mason and I will be wearing our jerseys so hopefully we bring you luck, and you can give me a win to shut my husbands mouth. Thank you for the opportunity to share a little about our story.
GO STEELERS !!!!!!!!!

Julia Pollock - October, 2010705 viewsIn June of 2012, Ben was made aware of a very special fan that was fighting cancer. Julia Pollock (above at a Steelers game in the Fall of 2010, or what she refers to as "Ben's Return Game") had been in the hospital for 52 days. Ben sent her a short video message he made from his kids football camp in the hope it would lift her spirits. She and her family wanted Ben's fans to see the video, and her response, which was also videotaped by her family:

Julia sent a message of thanks to Ben that she also wanted to share with his fans:
Hello my name is Julia Pollock.
I battled breast cancer in 2010. In January 2011 I thought I had won the battle, but unfortunately I had not. The cancer is now in my spine and affecting my brain. They say it is terminal. I’m 38 hrs old and refuse to accept that. I still have so much I need to do.
I want Ben to know that his video email meant the world to me not just because I bleed black and gold and watching him every Sunday makes my week but because I’ve ALWAYS known him to be a man with a good heart. When I received the message I was in the hospital and I swear that was the moment I realized I had to fight like I was playing those dumb Ravens in a playoff game. Lol. After 52 days bed ridden in the hospital I am home with my family in Brighton,CO. I’m getting stronger everyday. I guess you could say this is my training camp.
I worked at a hardware store in Steamboat Springs, CO. We employee 45 or so employees. When they all saw the video message they reacted as I did with one exception. They all turned to Steeler Nation or better yet Ben Nation. Every Saturday at work I dress in my jersey for pre-game day. I’ve done this for 6 years. I have had to endure a lot from all my friends and customers. I never would have thought that one genuine and heart felt message could change all of their minds and that they are using words like classy, stand up, awesome and great guy when using Ben in a sentence. Thank you sooo much for your gift. I will treasure it forever.
I know your busy getting ready for the season which is why I’m taken back by your act of kindness. My sister was able to get tickets for her and I to go see you play the Broncos on Sunday night opener. Even though she was only able to get the 2 tickets and my whole family can’t go I’m beyond excited. I’ll be the one yelling and cheering you guys on to a victory in a hostile Bronco crowd wearing my Big Ben jersey with pride. The least I can do after you cheered me on. Thank you with all my heart. I do truly do believe the Lord works in mysterious ways and miracles happen. I have to, I’m a Steelers fan, right?
Thank you so much to Julia, and to her father Alan Nagy! God bless you!
